iOS 8 Concept Video Shows What To Expect

Updated on

A new video showing off an iOS 8 concept gives an idea of what Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) fans should expect from the next version of the company’s mobile operating system. Most analysts aren’t expecting much of a revolution from the next iOS, given the massive changes made in iOS 7, but there’s likely some features that’ll attract a new generation to the iPhone line.

The video shows a slick and quick iOS 8 with several new features. Interestingly enough the concept shows an iOS 8 with the same amount of icons as iOS 7 across and down the screen. That comes as a surprise seeing as the video shows off the fictional operating system on a concept of the iPhone 6. The concept smart phone also lacked the Touch ID button, meaning it may not be the best source for iOS 8 rumor accuracy.

iOS to continue with flat design

The concept video shows an iOS continuing with the flat design introduced into the company’s most recent mobile operating system, iOS 7. The design of the operating system is a little tweaked, however with redesigns of some of the application icons. The change in the design of the operating system was generally well received and Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is sticking with it, at least in the medium term.

Other new features shown off by the iOS 8 concept video included the rumored Siri Shazam integration. The video shows Siri being asked to identify a song and managing it easily with the inclusion of the music recognition software.

The major features of iOS 8 are expected to be in Healthbook, an application that it expected to show up on the operating system. those features are expected to integrate data from the biggest rumored Apple release of 2014.

iWatch features likely to morph iOS 8

The biggest change that is hoped from iOS 8 is the inclusion of HealthBook and other applications to make use of the speculative wearable the iWatch. The wearable is supposed to include several sensors that will monitor the health of the wearer, and Healthbook is an application that is supposed to organize that information and present it in a way that is useful to the user.

Those features have yet to be confirmed by Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) and the iOS 8 shown in the concept video is just an idea of what the new operating system might include. The lack of more rows of applications, and the missing Touch ID sensor show that the design may not be the most accurate representation of iOS 8 rumors, and Apple is bound to surprise when it shows off the operating system at its next WWDC.
