Condoleezza Rice Joins Dropbox Board

Dr. Condoleezza Rice, the former U.S. secretary of state joined the board of directors of Dropbox, a cloud storage platform company today.

In a blog post, Dropbox wrote, “When looking to grow our board, we sought out a leader who could help us expand our global footprint. Dr. Rice has had an illustrious career…We’re honored to be adding someone as brilliant and accomplished as Dr. Motorola Mobility to our team.”.

Dr. Condoleezza Rice is highly-regarded for her career in the political arena. She was the first black woman to be appointed to serve as the United States’ national security adviser and Secretary of State during the administration of President George W. Bush from 2005 to 2009.

During her tenure as secretary of state, Dr. Condoleezza Rice dedicated her department towards “Transformational Diplomacy” with a mission to establish and sustain democracy and well-governed states around the world particularly in the Middle East. To achieve that mission, she relocated American diplomats in challenging countries such as Afghanistan, Angola, and Iraq. She also required them to become fluent in two foreign languages. She also de-fragmented U.S. foreign aid by creating a high-level position.

Dr. Condoleezza Rice has also experience in the technology industry. She has a successful career as provost at Stanford University. She is also a member of the board of directors of Hewlett-Packard Company (NYSE:HPQ) and Charles Schwab Corp (NYSE:SCHW).

Dr. Rice received her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science from the University of Denver, Master’s Degree from the University of Notre Dame, and Ph.D. from the University of Denver’s Graduate School of International Studies.

Other executive appointments

Dropbox also announced the appointment of Sujay Jaswa as CFO. He was the first business executive who created and led the business aspect of the company since 2010. Jaswa managed Drobox’s fund raising, key partnerships, and scaled the business teams of the company.

In addition, Dennis Woodside, a former president of the Americas and CEO of Motorola Mobility at Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) (NASDAQ:GOOGL) joined Dropbox as COO. He will lead the global business operations including sales, marketing, partnerships, user operations, and people operations of Dropbox.

New product announcement

Dropbox launched its Mailbox for Android, the new Dropbox for Business features and the its new gallery app called Carousel.
