Twitter Inc (NYSE:TWTR) is testing a new feature that will allow you to “favorite” people you are following and concentrate on their tweets.

The new application first appeared in the in the alpha version of Twitter’s Android application, which is the first step in the development process. After this the application is sent to beta testers before being rolled out to the public.
The alpha application puts a “Fave People” candidate across the menu navigation next to “Home,” “Notifications,” “Discover” and “Me.” Under the category the instructions read: “Keep track of your favorites,” the interface reads. “Tap the star icon on the profiles of your favorite people to see their Tweets in this timeline. You can also choose to receive notifications when they tweet from Settings.” A button beneath the “Fave” message allows the user to navigate to the “Following” section so users can pick new favorite fellow Twitter users. According to TechCrunch, “it’s not necessarily a more efficient means of building a list, compared with the built-in Twitter “Lists” function offered today. It’s really just using more accessible terminology (“Fave People”) to highlight the capabilities of that often overlooked feature.”
“Fave People” comes amidst website redesign
The “Fave People” addition comes as Twitter was testing a major web site redesign. The new look is a nod to facebook, as the user’s profile picture is moved to the right, just above the reduced bio section, leaving significantly more real estate for the header photo. The revamped tweet stream, much like a business news feed, will feature a greater focus on photos and content cards.Photo: Mashable
