New Images Of Apple iPhone 6 Emerge

Updated on

The eyes of the smartphone loving world may currently be largely on Samsung as the days count down to the release of the forthcoming Galaxy S5, but a company as big and prominent as Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is not going to reside in the shadows for very long, and the anticipation for some solid information from the company about the new iPhone 6 is already building.

Frence website’s iPhone 6 leak

In accordance with this, the Internet has been ablaze with rumors over the last couple of days that images from the new iPhone 6 have been leaked by a French website. The images in question purport to show the display panel of the forthcoming iPhone 6, and suggest that it will feature an edge-to-edge screen that is clearly larger in size than that of the iPhone 5S, 5C and 5 models.

The images suggest that the iPhone 6 design will feature no bezels at the side of the device whatsoever, and the home button of the smartphone will seemingly be positioned nearer to the display than in previous models.

While we’re yet to hear any news from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) itself on the design of the iPhone 6, reports have persistently indicated that the elite smartphone manufacturer will release two versions of the iPhone 6, one with a larger screen than any previously seen in an iPhone, and a more affordable version. It is possible that the display of the premium iPhone 6 will be as big as 5.7-inches, a full inch larger than the previous iPhones’ screens, and putting the device firmly into the phablet category.

Previously, Samsung has dominated this particular category of the consumer electronics market, and this may have motivated Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to take a different tack with the iPhone 6. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (OTC:SSNLF) has already signaled its intent to usurp Apple as the world’s most successful producer of smartphone and tablets this year, and Apple is undoubtedly taking the threat from the Korean manufacturer very seriously.

Additionally, Apple’s last financial figures were less than incandescent and Apple’s hierarchy has already indicated that the company intends to move into new markets in the coming twelve months. In many ways it makes sense for Apple to kill two birds with one stone with the iPhone 6, and position the premium device as a potentially world-leading phablet, while offering a more affordable version of the phone as what could be viewed as a more traditional smartphone.

iPhone 6 camera speculation

Other specs of the iPhone 6 also remain under debate, although we do know from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s actions that at least a premium version of the handset is likely to be manufactured from high-quality sapphire glass. But there have been indications over the last 24 hours that the camera resolution of the iPhone 6 will not exceed 8-megapixels. Instead the Apple device will enable users to snap better photographs by including other features such as optical image stabilization, and a larger sensor and aperture. However, other reports have contradicted this claim and stated that the iPhone 6 will feature a more powerful 10-megapixel camera.

There will doubtless be many more rumors and counter-rumors appearing between now and release day, which looks likely to be circa September.
