Leon Cooperman Buys GM, eBay, T-Mobile, ICE, Sells Polycom

Leon Cooperman of Omega Advisors has released their latest 13F filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. In all, the firm bought into 16 new stocks, increased its position in 22, sold completely out of 13 stocks and cut its holdings in 26 others during the quarter which ended on Dec. 31.

Leon Cooperman buys GM T-Mobile, eBay

During the fourth quarter, Cooperman’s firm bought more than 1 million shares of General Motors Company (NYSE:GM) and more than 8 million shares of Sunedison Inc (NYSE:SUNE). Omega also purchased more than 3 million shares of T-Mobile US Inc (NYSE:TMUS) and more than 2 million shares of Weyerhaeuser Company (NYSE:WY).

A few of Omega’s other significant purchases during the fourth quarter were eBay Inc (NASDAQ:EBAY), of which the firm bought about 850,000 shares, and United Continental Holdings Inc (NYSE:UAL), of which it bought nearly 1.2 million shares. Cooperman also purchased more than 400,000 shares of Intercontinentalexchange Group Inc (NYSE:ICE) during the December quarter.

Leon Cooperman raises stake in Caesars, Sprint, Dish

Sprint Corporation (NYSE:S) was Omega’s top holding at the end of the December quarter, as it made up more than 6%. Cooperman increased his position in the company by adding more than 5.2 million additional shares to his holdings. He also snapped up an additional 6.6 million shares of Sirius XM Holdings Inc. (NASDAQ:SIRI) and nearly 2.2 million more shares of Caesars Entertainment Corp (NASDAQ:CZR).

Cooperman also increased his position in JPMorgan Chase & Co. (NYSE:JPM), adding 21,500 shares to his total, and DISH Network Corp (NASDAQ:DISH), adding about 414,000 shares to his position. Other notable position increases include Thermo Fischer Scientific Inc. (NYSE:TMO), of which he added about 209,000 more shares, American International Group Inc (NYSE:AIG), of which he bought 39,500 more shares and Citigroup Inc (NYSE:C), of which he added 92,000 shares.

Omega dumps Penn, LinnCo, Merck, Polycom

Cooperman’s firm exited Merck & Co., Inc. (NYSE:MRK) and Penn National Gaming, Inc (NASDAQ:PENN), of which he sold more than 1.5 million shares. He also sold off all of his more than 9.4 million shares of Polycom Inc (NASDAQ:PLCM) during the quarter, as well as all of his shares of LinnCo LLC (NASDAQ:LNCO).

Two other big exits for Cooperman during the December quarter were Atmel Corporation (NASDAQ:ATML) and Validus Holdings, Ltd. (NYSE:VR).
