An iPhone 6 Concept That Apple Could Be Proud Of

Updated on

An iPhone 6 concept designed by French experts is what Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) could hope its real smartphone looks like when it’s unveiled. We have seen innumerable of iPhone 6 concepts and photo leaks. But most of them have been panned because they are either unlikely to appear in the iPhone 6 or they have been designed in fantasy-land.

The more realistic iPhone 6 concept

But the latest iPhone 6 concept from Frenchsoft looks a lot more real. The designers are obviously inspired by the iPad Air that was launched last year. This iPhone 6 concept showcases an incredibly thin 6mm design, a bigger 4.5-inch edge-to-edge display with extremely thin bezels, an 8MP camera in the upper corner, and an enhanced version of the iOS 8. The iOS 8 shown in this iPhone 6 concept has slightly tweaked icons that look different from the one present in the iOS 7.

Though the actual iPhone 6 may be a bit different, experts say it’s one of the best iPhone 6 concepts so far. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is expected to employ some of the “Air” features to the upcoming smartphone. The Frenchsoft concept also includes the fingerprint scanner, which Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) introduced with the iPhone 5S. It adds convenience and security to the device.

iPhone 6 release date

Rumors indicate that the iPhone 6 will come in two different sizes, one with a 4.7-inch screen while another will be a phablet with a 5.7-inch display. They are likely to be launched at different price points, continuing Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s two-phone lineup. There were rumors that the iPhone 6 will have a 13MP camera, but supply chain sources told yesterday that the device is likely to retain the 8MP camera. Among other things, the iPhone 6 is rumored to employ an eye scanner, a more efficient 64-bit A8 processor, and a curved display. However, analysts are widely divided over the release date of the device, with possibilities ranging from May to October. Some believe the iPhone 6 will be launched at WWDC 2014 to better compete with Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd.(ADR) (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930)’s upcoming Galaxy S5. But others expect Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) to maintain the September release.

Pegatron to fulfill half of iPhone 6 orders

In another development, AFP reported that the Taiwanese manufacturer Pegatron Corporation (TPE:4938) may be awarded contracts to supply half of the iPhone 6. Pegatron Corporation (TPE:4938) already assembles the iPhone 5C and iPad mini for the tech giant. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shifted some of its production from Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd. (TPE:2354) to Pegatron Corporation (TPE:4938) last year to improve supply chain efficiency. It helped the company avoid potential supply chain risks.

There is no specification as to which company will fulfill the other half of the iPhone 6 orders. But that’s highly likely to be Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd. (TPE:2354), a long-term Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) supplier. Pegatron Corporation (TPE:4938) is building a new assembling unit in Kushan near Shanghai. The plant will start production in the second half of this year. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is expected to release the iPhone 6 at the same time. Pegatron Corporation (TPE:4938) expects its 2014 revenues to rise to 950 billion Taiwanese dollars ($31.5 billion) from 882 billion Taiwanese dollars in 2013, thanks to massive orders from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL).

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shares inched up 0.46% to $539.01 in pre-market trading Friday.
