Top Ten Video Games For Xbox One And PS4 In 2014

Updated on

The era of the previous generation gaming consoles – Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 – is drawing to a close as their successors, the Xbox One and the PlayStation 4, have hit the markets. So, let’s check out the list of top ten video games for 2014 that are compatible with the Xbox One as well as the PlayStation 4. We haven’t included games that run on only one of these consoles. Of course, 2013 was a great year for gaming, but 2014 has a lot more to offer than many gamers would think at first blush. Here is the list (in no particular order):

Thief

Developed by Eidos Montreal, Thief has excellent reboots. Players have to use stealth to get ahead in the game, while stealing from the rich. The game is expected to be released in the last week of February. We have to wait until then to see if it matches the excellence of its predecessors.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes is no doubt one of the most anticipated video games of the next year. Gamers are curious for this one because its FOX engine will have an opportunity to shine on the next generation consoles PS4 and Xbox One. Developed by Kojima Productions, the first part of the game will take place in 1975. The second part, Phantom Pain, is likely to be released at a later date, reports Jeff Bakalar of CNET.

Destiny

Bungie, the same team that produced the Halo franchise, is now coming out with Destiny. A “shared world shooter” with more intimate connections and fewer players. The game has always been terrific, but a lot will depend on its reward system and gaming quality.

Child of Light

A title that could be Ubisoft’s biggest breakthrough since Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon. This painterly-style role-playing game is one of the most awaited and most captivating-looking games of 2014. it will be available on almost every major gaming platform.

Dragon Age: Inquisition

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be released in Fall 2014. Developed by BioWare and published by Electronic Arts, this title is expected to have attractive graphics and multiple races. Its predecessor Dragon Age II was a huge disappointment to many, but Inquisition is expected to offer a wonderful gaming experience.

Dying Light

This zombie action game has been developed by Techland, the same team that brought out Dead Island. This next generation title is set in an open urban world and combines Parkour with zombies that get extremely aggressive at night.

The Evil Within

The Evil Within is the next generation of survivor horror. Tango Gameworks is developing this title, and director Shinji Mikami is leading the team. Mikami is famous for making Resident Evil 4, which is undoubtedly one of the most successful games ever.

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

This title brings its lead character Geralt of Rivia in the huge open world. Developed by CD Projekt RED, The Witcher 3 could take up to 100 hours to finish as there will be more monsters, more quests and more storylines than ever.

Tom Clancy’s The Division

The Division received accolades at E3 2013. It’s a multiplayer game in a situation where a dangerous disease breaks out in New York City on Black Friday. Gaming addicts are expecting fascinating tactical options where players can choose between co-op, player vs. player or solo.

Wolfenstein: The New Order

Machine Games is rebooting Wolfenstein again. However, The New Order won’t have a multiplayer component. Machine Games has already stated that the focus of this title will be the campaign. Let’s see if it can match the industry and cultural importance of Wolfenstein 3D.

Other highly anticipated games for the next year include Watch Dogs, Yoshi’s New Island, The Wolf Among Us, and Valiant Hearts: The Great War.
