Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930)’s Galaxy S5 is expected to hit the market in the first quarter of 2014. The sales of Galaxy S4 are dwindling, so the Korean company is likely to bring its next flagship devices sooner. Samsung lovers have a much higher expectation this time after the stupendous success of the Galaxy S4 and Galaxy Note 3. So, let’s take a look at what the Samsung Electronics Co Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) freaks expect from the Galaxy S5.
A 3D display
Sounds ridiculous. But we have seen screen resolutions hitting a plateau after 2K resolution, HD, full HD and Retina display. Now, even if the smartphone makers keep improving pixels our eyes can’t make out the difference, says John McCann of TechRadar. The Korean electronics giant has patented the use of dual camera to track user’s eye direction. It means the display will adjust the 3D image based on your eye movement, and you won’t have to keep your eyes fixed at a particular angle.
Flexible design in Galaxy S5
Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) fans expect the Galaxy S5 to come with a more flexible design. The previous Galaxy smartphones have been criticized for its all-plastic chassis that makes them look and feel cheap. A plastic case surely make the device light, but Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has pulled it off very well with metal and glass design. To pull neck and neck with (or ahead of) Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), Samsung Electronics Co Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) could use its flexible display technology in the Galaxy S5. That’s what Galaxy fans are crazy about.
Powerful battery
Galaxy S5 is rumored to feature a 4000mAh battery, which could easily be the biggest ever battery used in a smartphone. Most smartphone batteries are between 2100-2600mAh. Though a 4000mAh battery could make the device bulkier, fans expect a larger battery life so that they can use the Galaxy S5 for at least a day on a full charge.
Stereo speakers
Many Galaxy users actually envy the BoomSound in the HTC One. The Galaxy S5 will be the Korean company’s next flagship smartphone. So fans expect the company to bring speakers that give better sound than HTC One and the iPhone 5S. Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (LON:BC94) (KRX:005930) has good relations with Olufsen and Bang. The company may tap into those relations to bring something unique.
A built-in projector in Galaxy S5
How great it would be if the Galaxy S5 comes with a built-in projector? In 2012, the company did the same thing with Galaxy Beam. Though it was a niche device, fans would love to see something similar in Galaxy S5 that they can enjoy. They would love it the Galaxy S5 could stream things to a wall.
Let’s see how many of these wishes Galaxy S5 fulfills. For that, we have to wait until Q1 2014.
