The Nokia Lumia 1520 ‘phablet’, which will be released by Nokia Corporation next week, is expected to compete strongly against the Galaxy Note 3 from Samsung Electronics.

In addition to its high-end specifications, the price of the Nokia Lumia 1520 phablet makes it a strong competitor. The selling price for the device is $199 with a two-year contract with AT&T, which is $90 cheaper than the price of the Galaxy Note 3 at around $290 with a two-year carrier contract.

Lumia 1520 will be available November 15

Microsoft Corporation started taking pre-orders for the Nokia Lumia 1520 today. The tech giant is in the process of taking over the operations of the Devices and Services unit of Nokia Corporation after agreeing to acquire it for €5.44 billion last September.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 will be available in the market on November 15. Nokia’s outgoing CEO Stephen Elop introduced the phablet during an event in Abu Dhabi last month. Elop will return to Microsoft to serve as vice president of the Devices & Services unit after the completion of the acquisition.

Nokia Lumia 1520 is one of the last Nokia smartphones

Technology observers are speculating that the Nokia Lumia 1520 is one of the last smartphones that would carry the brand Nokia. The Finnish smartphone manufacturer is also expected to roll out the more affordable Nokia Lumia 1320 phablet, which is intended for consumers in emerging markets.

The Nokia Lumia 1520 sports a 6-inch full HD 1080p display, powered by the Windows Phone 8 operating system with the latest updates. It is integrated with 2.2 GHz quad core Snapdragon processor from Qualcomm.

It has a built-in built-in 3,400 mAh battery with wireless charging that offers up to nine hours video playback or 29 days standby time. It is also equipped with a Pureview 20-megapixel Auto Focus ZEISS optics with Optical Image Stabilization, and the secondary camera is HD 1.2-megapixel wide angle.

In addition, the Lumia 1520 has a standard storage capacity of 32GB plus a Micro SD slot for up to 64GB for extra storage. Microsoft is providing a 7GB SkyDrive Cloud Storage for each device.
