BlackBerry Ltd (BBRY) Wants Help In Designing New Emoticons For BBM

Updated on

BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB), the struggling smartphone maker, is planning to further improve its popular BBM service, and is asking users to make a contribution this time. Emoticons are used heavily in the chats over instant messenger, and BBM, which has its own set of emoticons (instead of using third-party alternatives), has not updated the stock for quite a while now. Realizing this, BlackBerry is asking users to provide ideas for new BBM emoticons, says a post on Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB).

“Want to help us create the next set of awesome #BBM Emoticons? We’re looking for ideas from YOU, our biggest Fans!” says the post from BlackBerry.

Ideas flowing in

After a long time (apart from the BBM launch), BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) has given something to users that make them excited. Many users have shared their thoughts on the emoticons, some of them have been mentioned below:

User Sharran Wong suggested a “Nail biting emoticon!! With a stressed face!”

Daniel Magìk Render suggests an “OMG I give up face. Emoticon with hands thrown up in the air and a frustrated expression.”

Giovana Oliveira asked for a “(kiss) without lipstick (don’t forget to update BBM for OS 5, 6 and 7 with those new Emoticons).”

While many users suggested unique emoticons, there were some emoticons that were demanded by more than one users; many users asked for “Middle finger” and “Fingers crossed” emoticons.

Some of the users instead of providing emoticons gave more of a general idea. One of the users suggested that more transportation icons should be there while some suggested that icons should be large enough to complement a bigger screen.

BlackBerry asking for ideas or likes

According to the post, BlackBerry Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) is requesting that users submit their ideas for new emoticons by providing a detailed description. As of now, the company might not be accepting files, which may disappoint the graphic designers as now, they will have spell out the idea in words.

Also, for users who do not have any ideas of their own, the Canadian firm has asked them to like the posts or ideas that appeal to them the most. The last date for the submission of an idea is set for the 20th of November, which is not too far away, so hurry up if you later want to brag about your emoticons being included in BBM’s list.
