Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Siri is known for both good and bad traits. Sometimes the information posted by the personal assistant feature is helpful, and other times, not so much. And believe it or not, Siri has its own views on who should be president. Apparently if Siri were a real person, she would have voted for Libertarian candidate Ron Paul in the 2012 election. (At this point we don’t know if the alleged voice actress for Siri would prefer Paul; maybe we should ask her).
Apple’s Siri is a closet Libertarian
A post on the Reddit forums (spotted by RT) revealed that when asked about her political question, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Siri pulls up the Wikipedia entry for Ron Paul. More specifically, she points users to Paul’s political views on that page.
If you have an iPhone or iPad and want to try this out, just ask Siri this question: “Siri, what are your political views?”
Verification of Siri’s political answer
According to RT, there has been independent verification that this question actually does pull up Ron Paul’s Wikipedia page. Some iPhone users have even taken the time to reset the device to its original default settings before asking the question again. The point of this is to see if Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s Siri will still answer the question the same way, and indeed, it does. In other words, past searches performed by the iPhone user do not appear to affect the answer provided by Siri.
Apple’s Siri gives other interesting answers
In May 2012, Siri also gave a very interesting answer to those who asked about the best smartphone ever. The app pointed to the Nokia Lumia 900 as the best smartphone ever. At that time, it was suggested that Siri got her answers from Wolfram Alpha. However, I checked this one out myself, and when asking the same question to Wolfram Alpha, you get a very boring and unhelpful dictionary entry for the world “political.”
Ron Paul likes Apple too
Although there haven’t been any official comments released by Paul or Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), last year the then-presidential candidate had good things to say about the company. He called Apple “a great company” when he was answering a question regarding bringing business back to the U.S. The moderator apparently said something about how Apple’s operations provide mostly jobs to foreign workers rather than Americans.
Paul’s commentary basically said that even though we send money to China through jobs, the Chinese spend their money and are “buying our debt and perpetuating our consumerism” as well as sending the dollars back over.
