Apple Inc. (AAPL) Is Working On iPhones With Curved Display [REPORT]

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is said to be working on two new iPhone models that would feature big screens with curved glass and enhanced pressure sensors that can detect different levels of pressure, says a source speaking to Bloomberg. Both of these new devices are expected to be released in the “second half of next year.”

These new iPhones would come in 4.7 and 5.5-inch variants, which means that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) would release not one but two different models at the same time, just like the company did by releasing both the iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C at the same time.

Two models planned for release in the second half of next year would feature larger displays with glass that curves downward at the edges, said the person, declining to be identified because the details aren’t public. Sensors that can distinguish heavy or light touches on the screen may be incorporated into subsequent models, the person said.

Testing of the new pressure-sensitive technology is reportedly in progress, but it is highly unlikely that this new tech would be ready for the next iPhone. If this technology is really successful, then it would make some apps like drawing, note taking, and games more interesting. For example, effects on the photo can be changed with more or less pressure on the screen in a photo editing app. It could have many such useful applications.

Bloomberg’s sources can be usually trusted, but right now it’s too early to say anything about what Apple would launch in the second half of next year. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) might be working with these two new models, but will these new iPhones see the light of the day?
