Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) announced this week that it will hold a major event on Oct. 22. Of course the company is expected to unveil the Lumia 1520, which is believed to be the first Windows Phone 8 phablet. However, that might not be the only product in store for unveiling on that date. Twitter tipster @evleaks suggests that there might be a tablet unveiled on that date too.

Will Nokia unveil a tablet too?

The tip posted on Twitter says to look out for the Nokia Sirius and Bandit at next month’s event. Bandit is believed to be the codename for the Lumia 1520 phablet, while Sirius is believed to be Nokia’s tablet. Ubergizmo notes that this would go against reports which suggest Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has been pushing Nokia to cancel its tablet.

There have been plenty of rumors already about what Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s Sirius tablet would look like. It apparently runs on Windows RT and is 10.1 inches in size with a full 1080p HD display. It is said to use Qualcomm’s 8974 processor and have a 6.7 megapixel rear camera. The tablet is expected to sell for about $499.

What about Nokia’s phablet?

But the rumored Nokia tablet isn’t the only product we’re getting mixed signals on. Since the Oct. 22 media event date was announced, there have been speculations that the Lumia 1520 will indeed be revealed then. But earlier on the same day Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V) announced its event, there were reports that the company would put off the launch of its phablet until after the Microsoft deal.

Rumors had said previously that the Lumia 1520 would be revealed Sept. 26, so it’s clear that the launch of that device has been delayed for some reason. The reason though is unlikely to be the Microsoft deal since that deal probably won’t close until the first quarter of next year. Nokia shareholders still have to vote on it.
