Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is likely to release its new iPhone at an event on September 10, and it seems that the company may offer more than one model for the first time in its history. There are plenty of rumors flying around concerning what will happen on the iPhone release date, and what the specs of the new iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c will be, here’s a run down of the devices.
iPhone 5s
This is the premium iPhone successor to the company’s iPhone 5. The model is according to the most popular rumors around, going to have the same basic design, including shape, of the iPhone 5. Because of the lack of change in design some of the iPhone 5S specs are likely to stay the very same, including the screen size, the lightning connector and the position of the hardware buttons.
There will, however, be many changes on the inside of the iPhone 5s. The phone will more than likely include the A7, the latest in custom Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPhone processors.The A7 will likely give the iPhone 5s a meaningful boost in speed, and more importantly a big boost in graphics ability.
The combined effect of the upgraded processor and the likely 2GB of ram in the iPhone 5s means that it could operate as much as 31% faster than its predecessor, the iPhone 5. Storage may also get a boost to 128GB in the 5S, as long as the iPad gets a boost to 256GB. The iPhone 5s tops out at 64GB of storage, and some users are clamoring for more.
On top of the internal spec changes, the iPhone 5s is likely to boast some improvements in its camera technology and may even come in more colors than previous iPhone generations. In the past Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) has offered two iPhone colors, black and white. The iPhone 5s launch could change that with many new colors, including gold, being rumored.
iPhone 5c
The C in iPhone 5c does not stand for “cheaper.” Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) may have lost its way a little in recent years, but it is still above that kind of branding faux pas. It is more likely that the C in the iPhone 5c stands for China. Rumors suggest that the iPhone 5c will be a cheaper alternative to the iPhone 5s and will be launched alongside it on September 10.
The iPhone 5c will likely come with a less powerful processor, perhaps the A6 or a modified version of it. Apart from that the specs of the iPhone 5c are mainly speculation. The device is likely to made of plastics in places the iPhone 5S has metal in order to reduce the price. the iPhone 5c screen will likely have a lower resolution and the camera is likely to be less powerful.
Nobody is really sure where the iPhone 5c fits into the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) lineup, making it very difficult to predict the specs. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) doesn’t really need to release a cheaper iPhone in the Western world, it needs to release it in China. The company may take the advice of its co-founder Steve Wozniak and release a device specifically designed for that market.
iPhone 5c specs are a bit of a mystery, and rumors about its specs run all over the place. It will be cheaper to make and to sell, but that doesn’t give much to go on. We’ll have to wait for the iPhone launch to test theories about the phone.
iPhone 6
It won’t be long after this release that rumors about the iPhone 6 begin to heat up, and some of them are already swirling around. According to the most popular iPhone 6 rumors the smart phone will have a much larger screen that the iPhone 5s, coming in at close to 5 inches.
The device will have all of the usual iPhone spec bumps including a better processor and camera. With the iPhone release date appearing to be standardized at September it is expected to see this model that time next year, though sales pressures may push the release up to July, if analysts are to be believed.
The iPhone 6 is expected to change the aspect ration of the iPhone screen from the 16:9 it now sits at to the 4:3 the iPad is now comfortable with. There is not perfect aspect ratio, but Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is certainly in favor of 4:# in general, meaning the iPhone 6 will likely have a screen of that size.
iPhone 6 rumors will really take off next January, and everybody will be in on the act by next Summer. With the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c release date set for September 10, all eyes will be on them for the next couple of weeks at the very least.
