Samsung Galaxy Note 3: A Threat To Apple?

Updated on

On September 4th at the IFA in Berlin, Samsung will officially launch the Galaxy Note 3. It should be an exciting event, because fortunately for the South Korean tech giant, they have been able to keep most of their products under wraps, unlike their competitor Apple.

Samsung Galaxy Note 3: A Threat To Apple?

Samsung Galaxy Note 3 rumors

Initially there were rumors that the Galaxy Note 3 would be 6.3 inches, which would make it like the Galaxy Mega 6.3. More recent rumors, however, suggest it will feature the 5.99 display instead.

CNET Asia also reports, “As for the materials used, there are rumors that the Note 3 will be the first handset to not use the plastic chassis that Samsung’s devices are known for. This seems highly unlikely, as the Note 3’s size will make a handset made up of metal or glass a tad too heavy. It is also rumored that the Note 3 will get a GPU with eight cores and 3GB RAM. This is likely to be a Mali 450 GPU paired with Samsung’s own Octa-core Exynos 5 processor. We suspect that this will only be for select models — international versions are likely to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor.”

Samsung Galaxy S4 features

Interesting enough, the Samsung Galaxy S4 comes with octa-core Exynos 5 on select handsets in a few countries like Korea. The version in the United States features the Snapdragon 600.

The Galaxy Note 3 should be a huge seller for Samsung and it might even make up for poor sales of Samsung Galaxy S3. There is no word on how the Galaxy Note 3 will sell but it will likely boost overall sales for the company. Samsung will need this phone, especially since their top competitor Apple is set to debut the iPhone 5S within weeks.
