The iPhone 6 continues to be the talk of the tech world, in spite of expectations that the iPhone 5S will be the next model out. This may be because of more and more reports which indicate that the iPhone 5S has nothing new to offer. At least with the iPhone 6, we can still dream.
Alleged iPhone 5S components leaked
After reports surfaced that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) was having problems with the fingerprint sensor in the iPhone 5S, not it seems like the company might choose not to include the feature at all. Over the weekend some new photos which are purported to be of components for the iPhone 5S were leaked. Those photos seem to indicate that there’s something missing that everyone is virtually counting on—a fingerprint sensor.
The original source for the photos appears to be Sonny Dickson, and TechKiddy claims the poster has a good record when it comes for leaks regarding iOS devices.
New iPhone 6 concept features true edge-to-edge display
But let’s get back to dreaming about the iPhone 6. A new concept surfaced over the weekend. This one comes from graphic designer Johnny Plaid, who says his design is the first true edge-to-edge display. Other concepts have included displays they said were edge to edge, but this one appears to go to the edges on all sides. It also has multi-touch sensors in the bottom of the phone and sensors on the sides which supposedly learn how the user holds the phone and ignores those sorts of gestures.
The concept makes the iPhone 6 the same size as the iPhone 5, although the screen is visibly much larger because of the edge-to-edge design. The screen features a graphene protective cover and touch sensors all the way around the edge of the display. There’s also something he calls the Lightning 2 adaptor with MagSafe charging technology.
He’s even included four different sizes ranging from a 32-gigabite model, which would sell for $200 with a two-year contract, up to 128 gigabytes, which would sell for $500 with a two-year contract.
