The service will allow users of BlackBerry 10 devices, starting on BB10.2, to check a simple webpage to see what exactly is wrong with their bricked BB10 device. The service certainly sounds like a useful one, and it shows that the company is still actively supporting the mobile OS when much of the financial industry had turned against it.

The stock is still trading well above its lows in the third and fourth quarters of 2012, and so it should. BlackBerry 10 has added some real value to the company since last October. The problem is that it’s probably not enough to bring the company financial comfort and it’s running out of time.
The bad news has piled up in recent weeks. AT&T Inc. (NYSE:T) cut the up front price of the BB Z1o. The company said the move was to facilitate the release of a new smartphone, but that particular narrative fell on deaf ears on Wall Street. Support For BlackBerry Users Down The Line
Many businesses that use Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) are concerned about what would happen to their service contracts if the company were to disappear. Now that Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) has managed to add some value and stabilize itself to some degree, it’s unlikely that it will go out with a pop. Slow dismemberment is much more likely, and maintenance contracts are likely to be taken care of.
BlackBerry users may not be so lucky. Services like BBerror will certainly not be released any more, but the fate of legacy services is less certain. Research In Motion Ltd (NASDAQ:BBRY) (TSE:BB) is not dead yet, but it needs a cash injection and those are not exactly common right now.
