At this point everyone has to put their two cents in as far as when the iPhone 6 will finally be out, with some saying it will be sooner and others saying it will be as late as next year. This morning Stabley Times’ Phil Moore says he believes that the media event for the device will be Sept. 10, and the device will launch on Sept. 20. It should be noted however, that these dates are pure speculation.
The iPhone 6 And iOS 7
Moore thinks that iOS 7 will also be unveiled on Sept. 10, although again, we don’t know for sure if this will be the unveiling date of the full operating system. Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) released the third update for its iOS 7 beta to developers just days ago, and thus far the company has only said that the full version will be ready this fall sometime. History indicates that iOS 7 becomes available to the general public days ahead of the launch of the next iPhone and that there are about two or three weeks between updates to the new operating system’s beta.
The iPhone 6 Release Date
History also tells us that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) holds a media event on either the second Tuesday or Wednesday in September to unveil the products it will ship in time for the holiday shopping season. Of course the iPhone 6 or the iPhone 5S is expected to be among those products. And since the second Wednesday in September happens to be Sept. 11 this year, it’s unlikely Apple will hold a media event on that date, simply out of respect for the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks.
In addition to the iPhone 6, of course we might also see other new products shipping in time for the holiday season. There’s a chance we’ll also see the iPod Touch 6 and maybe even the iWatch, although it might be a bit early for that device.
What About The Low Cost iPhone?
Intertwined with the iPhone 6 rumors have been other rumors about a low cost or budget iPhone, and the Stabley Times blogger doesn’t speculate about where or when we might see this device. Some have said it will be out in September along with the flagship device, while others have said the budget iPhone will be out first and the iPhone 6 flagship later.
However, as prices of the iPhone 5 drop to their lowest levels ever, it seems clear that the handset’s successor, presumably the iPhone 6, will be arriving soon. It’s the price date that has everyone chasing the rumors.
