Google has unveiled a brand new app on its Play store named as Google Play Games. Google might have taken a cue from Apple by looking at iOS’s Game Center which also functions similar to the Play Games app. The app serves as a companion portal for the Google Play Games Services which was announced at I/O.
The app allows users to play with your friends and see what they’re playing, join multiplayer games, track achievements and compare your scores with other gamer friends. Apart from all these features, Play Games serves as a central place to launch all the installed games on your Android device.
According to Google there’s a reason behind this new app—Google says that they want to “turbo charge gaming on Android.” Here’s a closer look at the app (screenshot courtesy of Play Store):
Google Play Games App Comes With Discovery Features
The Google Play Games app comes with discovery features which are powered by Google+ circles. Google is finally making some good use of its social network by utilizing it in the app. Games like Asphalt 8 Airborne, Riptide GP2 and Prince of Persia: The Shadow and the Flame will be the first titles that will utilize this platform. Other titles will soon follow, but these are what you get right now.
The app is only 2MB in size and is compatible with Android 2.2 and higher. The app basically aims at bringing all aspects of Android gaming together. Users can discover new games and check on what their friends are up to in the gaming world. Just like Apple’s Game Center, this app’s success depends on how much you enjoy gaming on your device. If you want to compete with your friends, discover some useful apps or just want a central place to launch games, then this app is for you. Get it from this link:
