Earnings season continues Thursday with more quarterly reports. The Blackstone Group L.P. (NYSE:BX), Travelzoo Inc. (NASDAQ:TZOO), Union Pacific Corporation (NYSE:UNP), UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE:UNH) and Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) are all scheduled to report.

The Blackstone Group L.P. (NYSE:BX)

Analysts are expecting The Blackstone Group L.P. (NYSE:BX) to report earnings per share of 53 cents on revenue of $1.22 billion for the second quarter of the year. Full-year earnings per share are expected to be $2.27 per share on full-year revenue of $5 billion.

The Blackstone Group L.P. (NYSE:BX) surprised to the positive in the last four quarters. According to Street Insider, the firm’s average earnings per share growth rate has been more than 184 percent. Its average percent move one week after earnings were announced is 3.6 percent, and its average earnings per share beat rate is 21.6 percent.

Travelzoo Inc. (NASDAQ:TZOO)

Consensus estimates for Travelzoo Inc. (NASDAQ:TZOO) indicate expectations of 27 cents in earnings per share on revenue of $41 million. Full-year earnings per share are expected to be $1.17 on full-year revenue of $161 million.

The company has beaten analyst estimates in four of the last five quarters, including the second quarter of last year when it posted a positive surprise of more than 15 percent. On average, the company’s earnings per share beat rate is 4.4 percent, while its average percent move one week after reporting earnings is 4.7 percent.

Union Pacific Corporation (NYSE:UNP)

Analysts are expecting Union Pacific Corporation (NYSE:UNP) to report earnings of $2.35 per share on revenue of $5.51 billion for the second quarter of the year. Full-year earnings per share are expected to be $9.52 on full-year revenue of $22.3 billion.

The company has surprised to the positive in the last five quarters. Shares of the railway company’s stock have risen more than 27 percent since the beginning of the year as the company has posted solid results so far year to day. The company has been outperforming CSX Corporation (NYSE:CSX), which posted earnings that beat expectations earlier this week.

UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE:UNH)

Consensus estimates for UnitedHealth Group Inc. (NYSE:UNH) indicate that the company is expected to report quarterly earnings per share of $1.26 on revenue of $30.48 billion. In April, the company’s reported that its first-quarter earnings declined 14 percent, although its net income increased 11 percent.

The company’s average earnings per share beat is 3 percent according to Street Insider, although its stock has recorded an average one-week decline of 2.4 percent after the company reported earnings. Estimates for the company haven’t changed much over the last 60 days, according to Zacks.

Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ)

Analysts are projecting that Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) will report earnings of 73 cents per share on revenue of $29.8 billion for the second quarter of the year. The company’s full-year earnings are expected to be $2.79 per share on full-year revenue of $121 billion.

Earlier this week it was revealed that Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) may be on the hook for about $12 billion owed to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) because of minimum purchase commitments. In addition to being an important indication of how well Verizon itself is doing this year, Thursday’s report will give us early insight into about how many iPhones Apple shipped during the quarter as Verizon reports the number of iPhones it sold.
