With much talk geared towards the upcoming iPhone 5S and iPhone 6, there wasn’t a whole lot of information geared toward the iPad 5. According to DigiTimes, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s next generation of iPads will launch in September and the iPad Mini 2 will launch shortly after. Their source reports, “Since upstream suppliers have mostly finished preparing for the production of the new 9.7-inch iPad, there is unlikely to be any changes in terms of specifications for the device.
Although suppliers have not yet received a firm mass production schedule from Apple and are mainly shipping products for pilot production, the sources pointed out that pilot production is already able to satisfy demand for the initial launch. Therefore, the sources expect Apple to give its shipment estimates at the end of July or early August.
Apple High Resolution Display Dilemma
Right now, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is still trying to decide on whether or not they will put a higher-resolution display on the iPad Mini. The report continues, “Meanwhile, Apple has also been asking its upstream supply partners to further shrink the next-generation iPad mini’s bezel, aiming to push a bezel-less design similar to that of Samsung and HTC’s large-size smartphones.”
Last year, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) released the iPad 4 and iPad Mini in October.
iPad 5 Could Look Similar To iPad Mini
The iPad 5 could look similar to the iPad Mini with rounded edges and a thinner bezel. Nothing will be confirmed until Apple officially unveils their iPad. There is a lot of anticipation for these devices and for good reason. The iPad is the most popular tablet computer on the market, and it’s crucial for Apple to keep their tablet in the spotlight.
Specifications for the iPad 5 may include a 9.7 inch display, and 2048 x 1536 resolution.
Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s iPad will most likely debut some time during the fall before the holiday shopping season begins, so the rumors are either on the mark or close to that date. Apple always releases their most popular products right before the biggest shopping season of the year.
