Apple Inc. (AAPL) iPad Mini Retina Display Production To Begin In Q3

Sweta Dash Explains About Panel Production

Senior director for LCD research for IHS iSuppli Sweta Dash explained to CNET that panel production will be less than three million units in the third quarter. This estimation is similar to what NPD Research told CNET a month ago. Dash added, “We see it coming in the second half. The challenges [display makers] face are the [production] yield rates. And being able to produce in very high volume for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL). Ideally, [display makers] should be producing in high volume one or two quarters before Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) can use the display. “

According to DigiTimes, shipping for the next iPad Mini should start late this summer along with the rumored iPhone Mini. Monica Chen explained, “In the first quarter, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shipped 37.4 million iPhones and 19.5 million iPads, with iPad Mini accounting for around 12 million units and 9.7-inch iPad about seven million.”

There is no official word from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) as to when we can expect the iPad Mini’s arrival but it’s safe to assume that it will be sometime this year, most likely in the early fall.

As for the next generation iPhone (which could be the iPhone 5S or iPhone 6) and 9.7 inch iPad, these devices may come out early next year.

IPad Mini 2 Features

The iPad Mini 2 is predicted to feature a 7.9 inch Retina display and a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels. It’s the perfect tablet for budget shoppers or for those who are looking for something a little more portable. The iPad Mini is also a great gadget for families or parents who want to give their kids their own tablet computer.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is most likely gearing up for a busy third and fourth quarter.
