The subscribers of Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) in United Kingdom and Ireland will be able to enjoy watching the new episodes of “The Killing” starting June 3.
Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) and Fox Television Studios announced that the Season 3 of the “The Killing” will be available to its British and Irish subscribers every Monday, after AMC’s broadcast of the drama series in the United States on Sunday.
In a statement, Ted Sarandos, chief content officer of Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) said, “We’re thrilled to be bringing Season 3 of The Killing exclusively to our members in the UK and Ireland. The Killing is an incredibly gripping fan favorite so we wanted to make each new episode available as soon as possible.”
The Season 1 and Season 2 of The Killing are available for all subscribers of Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX). The drama was based on a Danish series entitled Forbrydelsen, a story regarding the different murder investigations of homicide detectives Sarah Linden (Mireille Enos) and Stephen Holder (Joel Kinnaman).
Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) also announced it will also premiere “Derek,” the original series starring, written, and directed by Ricky Gervais on Thursday, September 12. All subscribers in different countries except those located in United Kingdom will be able stream the seven 30-minute episodes of Derek, a bitter sweet comedy drama about a Derek Noakes (Gervais), a tender, innocent man and group of outsiders living in margin society.
“Ricky Gervais is one of the most distinctive comedy voices of his generation. With ‘Derek,’ Ricky takes on new territory and mixes comedy with drama that is sometimes touching and sometimes heartbreaking. We are proud to partner with Ricky to present this unique and wonderful series to our members,” said Sarandos. Gervais won three Golden Globes, two Primetime Emmys, and seven BAFTAS.
Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) also obtained the exclusive rights to stream “The Hunger Games.” The online video streaming company started streaming the science fiction movie for its subscribers in UK and Ireland in March 3, while subscribers in the United States will stream it on a later date.
In addition, Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) also inked an exclusive deal with The Walt Disney Company (NYSE:DIS) to stream first-run animated and live action features produced by the entertainment company and released in theaters starting 2016.
Last month, Netflix CEO Reed Hastings said that the quarterly viewership data of the company reached 4 billion hours. The information regarding its viewership metrics was posted by Hastings on Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB).
