Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) has announced that it would be killing out lots of its product at the end of this month. The company is closing down Upcoming, Yahoo Deals, Yahoo SMS Alerts, Yahoo Kids, Yahoo Mail and Messenger feature phone (J2ME) apps on April 30 and older versions of Yahoo Mail, beginning June 3.

Today’s announcement of closing down these seven products comes after the first announcement at the start of March. The previous announcement included shutting down of Avatars, its BlackBerry app, Clues, App search, Sports IQ, Message Boards, and its Updates API.

Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) explains closing down of its services and apps by saying:

Ultimately, we’re making these changes in an effort to sharpen our focus. By continuing to hone in on our core products and experiences, we’ll be able to make our existing products the very best they can be.

Yahoo, in today’s announcement says that “We want to bring you experiences that inspire and entertain you every day.” The company wants to focus on certain important things and also to new Yahoo products.

As of April 30, Upcoming and its API will shut down. If you have uploaded events, then you can download that information.

Yahoo Deals

On April 30, Yahoo Deals will also be shut down. Hurry and save your coupons before the shut down of Yahoo Deals.

Yahoo SMS Alerts

On April 30, it will be shut down. Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) says that those users who are using SMS alerts should try out mobile apps instead, like Yahoo! News, Yahoo! Weather, Yahoo! Sports, or Yahoo! Finance. If you want to check your horoscope, then you can do so on Yahoo.com. Alternatively, you can also go to alerts.yahoo.com and select the option to receive your alerts via email or Yahoo! Messenger.

Yahoo Kids

Yahoo Kids will be shutting down on April 30. Yahoo! Inc. (NASDAQ:YHOO) says that users who are under 13 can instead register for Yahoo ID through the company’s Family Accounts program. Also, such users can connect with family and friends through Yahoo! Mail and Messenger, and also check out Yahoo Movies.

Yahoo Mail and Messenger feature phone (J2ME) apps

The Yahoo! Mail and Messenger apps for feature phones (J2ME) will be going down on April 30. Yahoo will continue to support Yahoo Mail and Messenger via web interface for feature phone users. Other users are told to use Yahoo Mail apps for Android, iOS, and Windows 8 or Yahoo Messenger apps for Android and iOS.

Older versions of Yahoo Mail

Beginning the week of June 3, 2013, older versions of Yahoo Mail (including Yahoo Mail Classic) will no longer be available. Users will need to compulsorily switch to the new Yahoo Mail. Users who are on dial-up connection can switch to the basic (HTML) view of the new Yahoo Mail.
