View News, Weather, Search & More By Opening A New Tab In Chrome

Updated on

When browsing on the Chrome Web Store, we can find many extensions that modify the New Tab page. There are many such extensions, but not every extension stands out. Here comes a new extension named as New Tab Page and as its name suggests, this extension changes the new tab page in Chrome.

It modifies the new tab page and integrates a search bar, recently visited pages, shows the latest news, weather for your current location and lists out some of the apps on its page. This extension would have added more value if it would have allowed to customers customize some of its aspects, but unfortunately, there are no options to customize it.

Once installed, the New Tab Page will take over your New Tab page. It displays a beautiful image in the background, and the big Search bar also lets you search by voice. The search will always be performed at Google.com, and just like Google.com, you are presented with suggestions on the fly. Below that, you will find shortcuts to a few recently opened web pages. These shortcuts also display a small preview but it takes some time for the preview to appear. You can also remove the web page by clicking on small X that appears when you hover your mouse over it.

The News section shows you latest news stories which are sourced from news.google.com. Clicking on the news link opens it in the same tab.

In the right column, you can see the latest weather for your current location. If it doesn’t show your location, then click on “Use current location” link from the weather section.

Below the weather section, you can see the apps that you’ve installed. From here, you can launch the apps or remove it by clicking on X button.

For sure, this extension brings some cool features that are very useful for example; news, weather, apps and recently visited sites. So instead of doing stuff manually, this extension provides a quick shortcut to these tasks. Try it out from the below link.
