Nokia Corporation (ADR) (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s next generation is said to be in the works. Twitter tipster @evleaks posted photos what is believed to be the Lumia 928—an updated version of the current 920 model.
Keep in mind that this is the same tipster who posted a photo that was supposed to be of the Samsung Galaxy S4 last month. The image was actually an artist rendering created by a retailer and submitted to @evleaks as a leaked photo. However, this time @evleaks isn’t the only one who claims to know a little bit about the Lumia 928. A third party has been able to confirm that the image is real.
According to the Twitter tipster, the leaked images of Nokia Corporation (NYSE:NOK) (BIT:NOK1V) (HEL:NOK1V)’s Lumia 928 handset are for the Verizon version of the device. The Verge reports that the 928 in the photo has a slightly longer flash on the back of it when compared with the 920. The online publication also cites sources who told it that the 928 will also be a bit thinner and have a 4.5-inch OLED screen rather than an LCD screen. In addition, it’s expected to sport a thin polycarbonate frame rather than aluminum and have a xenon flash in addition to the LED one the Lumia 920 has.
The Verge was able to verify the image posted by @evleaks and said it is genuine. It reported that Verizon is expected to unveil the device later this month. Both Verizon Communications Inc. (NYSE:VZ) and Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) are said to be in the final testing phases with the device.
