iBillionaire app

For those who want to keep abreast of how hedge funds and legendary investors are moving across their holdings, we recommend reading ValueWalk 24/7. However we are not conceited and give due credit to alternatives. Raul Moreno along with his partner, Alejandro Estrada, just launched an app, iBillionaire for iPhone and iPads. To put it simply, iBillionaire is a stylish way of following the best in the hedge fund industry and tracking their top holdings. So far the app is stalking 10 billionaires which include, predictably, Warren Buffett, Carl Icahn and surprisingly, Jorge Paulo Lemann, a Brazilian investor with a net worth of $17.8 billion anda  controlling stake in Burger King Worldwide Inc (NYSE:BKW). Lemann is also investing in H.J. Heinz Company (NYSE:HNZ) with Warren Buffett and is a good friend of Buffett.

While it is great to see what the bigwigs of Wall Street (or Sao Paulo) are doing, for the ordinary investor it is not easy to replicate the buys of the rich crowd. But admittedly it is a lot of fun to track their portfolios, so iBillionaire does well here. We hope more billionaires will step into the app and we will see more diversity in future. The app has great design and makes billionaire 13F filings look cool, when they would otherwise be just dry numbers.

iBillionaire calculates the average return from each long holding and compares it, if the position is shared by other investors. You can also compare your own portfolio with these legends and see how your exposure and diversification compare against them.

The preview version of iBillionaire costs $1.99/year while the premium edition costs $4.99/year. For all the Android users, you could be just a month away from investing like a billionaire–Moreno and Estrada are working on  iBillionaire for Android which could debut in May.
