Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) has started shipping its Haswell Chip to the PC manufacturers, according to a report from CNET.
There has not been any confirmation from Intel, but it is expected that the chip-making giant will announce this development at the IDF conference, which is scheduled next week in Beijing.
CEO Paul Otellini backed Haswell as the Intel’s most powerful and power-efficient mainstream processor. According to Otellini, this is the single largest generation to generation battery life improvement in the record of Intel.
The new Haswell from the house of Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) will power some of the most advanced Ultrabooks and tablets/laptop. The 4th generation Haswell core will be launched in the middle of the year, according to reports from media. The 22nm process of Haswell is similar to that of Ivy Bridge processors, but the micro architecture is new for enhancing the performance.
However, Intel has said that there is a bug in the chipset, which can affect USB 3.0 ports. The chipmaker convinced the customers that their files and software will not be affected by this bug along with other USB peripherals. Further, if customers realize that the bug has affected too much then they should contact the company’s technical and customer support.
Apart from the Haswell, Intel Corporation (NASDAQ:INTC) might probably restate the fact that it’s next generation Atom Chip for Smartphones “Merrifield” will be transited to customers towards the end of this year.
The next gen Atom chip, “Bay Trail,” for tablets from Intel will also be launched towards the end of the year. According to the reports, at present quad core Bay trail is the most powerful Atom Processors.
The quad-core Bay Trail chip is Intel’s “most powerful Atom processor to date” and “doubles the performance of the current tablet chip, ‘Clover Trail+’ according to recent statements from the company.
Both the products of Intel, Bay Trail and Merrifield, are based on an advanced Atom Micro architecture, which uses out-of-order execution that is different from Intel’s mainstream Core processors.
Customers can expect the Ultrabooks next year powered by Haswell chips. Ultrabooks failed to woo customers, but with new Haswell chips there can be some hope that the product will gain popularity with the customers. The chips from Intel under the name Haswell expected to enhance the performance as well as increase the battery life of the device.
Haswell could be a key factor in increasing the sales of tablets because customers tend to purchase tablets more than Laptops and personal computers.
