Google Play Store Welcomes Facebook Home

Facebook Home is composed of different apps from the social network giant such as chat, messaging, photo, and news feeds, and other services offered byFacebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB). Once downloaded on the smartphone, the app launcher will become the center of the device.

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) said, “With Home, everything on your phone gets friendlier. From the moment you turn it on, you see a steady stream of friends’ posts and photos. Upfront notifications and quick access to your essentials mean you’ll never miss a moment. And you can keep chatting with friends, even when you’re using other apps. It’s all part of Facebook Home—there’s no other phone, app or operating system like it.”

Consumers have different reactions on Facebook Home. USA Today quoted some of the reactions of consumers such as Caitlin Moyer, a marketing manager from Wisconsin who expressed her interest. She said, “I think the product is a couple years late. In the meantime, Apple has taken the world by storm and Facebook has become less popular with a younger demographic.”

Another consumer, Andy Cadwell, said he is concerned about his privacy. According to him, “I’m worried about my privacy with Facebook.”

Abe Shuhag, a college student from Cambridge, Massachussetts, thinks Facebook Home is revolutionary.  “Facebook Home is a great thing. It paves the way to new ideas.”

Janelle McCoy, a public relations executive from Rochester, New York, thinks devices with Facebook Home are great options. She said, “Facebook Home puts it at my fingertips. Being able to continue conversations on Facebook while doing other activities on my phone is very appealing.”

Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) CEO Mark Zuckerberg recently stated that Facebook Home is the next version of the social network giant. According to him, it is unlikely that Home will be integrated in the iOS of Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) because the ecosystem is closed and it requires partnership agreement.
