Amazon Expands Its Appstore To Nearly 200 Countries [LIST] Amazon, at the moment, offers Appstore only in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, Spain, and Japan. Today, Amazon has announced in a press release that the company is planning to introduce the Appstore to “nearly 200 countries”, including Australia, Brazil, Mexico, South Africa, South Korea, Asia and more. An exact time frame of the launch is absent at the moment, but Amazon has instructed app developers to start submitting their apps today by visiting the Amazon Mobile App Distribution Portal.

Amazon has specifically mentioned that countries like Australia, Brazil, Canada, Mexico, India, South Africa, South Korea, Papua New Guinea and Vatican City will be among the few who’ll be getting the Appstore. The company is planning to launch Appstore in 195 countries, thereby beating Google Play store which currently is available to 134 countries.

Here’s what Amazon has to say in a press release:

“Amazon’s platform is a complete end-to-end solution for developers wanting to build, market and monetize their apps and games on Kindle Fire and Android devices,” said Mike George, Vice President of Apps and Games at Amazon. “Allowing developers to target distribution of their apps and games in even more international countries is yet another important milestone as we strive to serve consumers and developers globally. Many of our existing developers have localized their apps and games for international consumers, and we look forward to working with new developers that have been waiting to bring their apps to more Amazon customers across the globe.”

Amazon has also highlighted their developer and sales tools, and special reference was given to their one-click purchasing system and in-app purchases. Regarding GameCircle, the company says that “A recent study of more than 500 games that utilize in-app purchasing on Amazon found that GameCircle-enabled mobile games earned 83 percent more average revenue per user (ARPU) than non-GameCircle games.”

With these expansion plans, it seems that Amazon is really serious about its Appstore and doesn’t want to leave any stone unturned. For sure, this step by Amazon would be welcomed by international users who were previously not able to buy apps because of country restrictions. Also, many users would be able to take advantage of “Free app of the day” offers by Amazon.
