Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) is finally completing its partnership with Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB), which will allow users to share their favourite television shows and movies with their friends. The feature is called Netflix Social, and it’s being rolled out along with the company’s ISP Speed Index, which was announced on Tuesday.

Netflix, Inc. (NFLX) & Facebook Inc (FB) Partnership Comes To The U.S

This social aspect of the content streaming service has been available outside of the U.S. since 2011. After Congress updated video sharing legislation this year, it became legal for Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) to partner with Facebook for the feature. The new feature will be available on U.S. Netflix accounts starting today.

“People naturally talk about TV shows and movies and love to share their experiences,” said Netflix Product Innovation Vice President Tom Willerer in a statement. “Through the Netflix / Facebook integration we want to let Netflix members express themselves on Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) and provide a digital version of the proverbial water cooler.”

U.S. members of the streaming service can directly link their account to their Facebook account so that they can see what their friends are watching. They simply add their friends to their Netflix account and check out the “Watched by your friends” section of Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX). Users can also automatically share the shows and movies they watch within Netflix and opt to share what they watch through Facebook.

Over time, Netflix Social will continue to change as the video streaming giant adds new capabilities, which it continues to test. One of the new features that will be tested includes the ability for members to purposely share their favorite content on Facebook and then discuss it with friends.

Shares of Netflix, Inc. (NASDAQ:NFLX) are up 6 percent in late Wednesday morning trading.
