Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG)’s poised to officially launch their Project Glass digital eyeglasses to the public and they want Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd. (TPE:2354) to help.
One insider who is familiar with Google’s plans reportedly said that the Taiwanese manufacturing plant will make the devices.
Google Glass features special software and cameras to create a unique computing experience. According to Sergey Brin, co-founder of Google, smartphones are “emasculating.” Google Glass is much cooler and that’s why the search engine giant has used many different professionals such as fashion designers, pilots, acrobats, to promote the new high-tech glasses.
Representatives from both Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd. (TPE:2354) have declined to comment.
It’s evident that Google’s partnership with Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd. (TPE:2354) would help the manufacturing company increase revenues beyond what they make from Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL), which is about forty percent of the revenue for Foxconn Technology Co., Ltd. (TPE:2354).
As part of the initial launch for the new revolutionary product, Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) will offer Google Glass to a handful of customers in just a few days. Prior to that, they will hold a competition. Developers who are seriously interested in the device can purchase it for about $1,500.
The possibilities for Google Glass are nearly unlimited. As Forbes reports, one entrepreneur wants this revolutionary product to improve people’s health. Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) recently sent out the following message #IfIHadGlass to those from the Glass Explorers program on Twitter and for those who were among the first to answer would receive their very own pair of Google Glasses.
The requirements for those selected would have to fill in the blank to the hashtag, fill and send an application, and be willing to pay an upfront fee of $1500 if they were selected.
Chris Shaw, who was one of the first chosen, responded with, “#ifIhadglass, I’d share my world travels with my family and build products that help prevent chronic disease. #google”
This is perhaps a sign of all the good things we might expect the follow the introduction of Google Glass.
