Instagram Feeds Now Available For The Web

Updated on

Instagram – the popular photo sharing app on iOS and Android, now offers a new way to browse Instagram feed on the web. Previously, users were only able to view photos and profiles, but now it’s possible to view the entire Instagram feeds on the web, without using the mobile app.

“We believe that you should be able to access Instagram on a variety of different devices, any of which may be convenient to you at a given moment – including your desktop computer or tablet,” Instagram co-founder, Kevin Systrom, said in a blog post.

Instagram users always wanted a web version, and in fact, many users were complaining about the lack of Instagram’s presence on the web.

To give it a try, just head over to Instagram.com and login to your account. The new Instagram Feed on the web works much like it does on your mobile phone. You can browse through the latest photos, get updates on new photos, like photos or engage in conversations with the inline commenting. One notable feature is that when you shrink/resize your browser to a single column, your feed will look like the mobile feed.

This new addition to the web interface will definitely benefit desktop as well as tablet users. The news feed feature shows the content users see when they tap the home button on their phone’s Instagram feed.

Now, what still remains is the ability to upload photos from the web, without using a mobile phone. We don’t know if Instagram would ‘really’ add any such functionality in the future, anyway, since Instagram is mostly about “phone”, we don’t think Instagram would be adding any such functionality, at least not in near future.

Instagram says “We do not offer the ability to upload from the web as Instagram is about producing photos on the go, in the real world, in realtime.”
