Bill Gates Says, “Ask me anything” On Reddit

Updated on

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT)’s creator Bill Gates recently took the time to answer your questions. He held a live Reddit session at 10:45 am Pacific Standard Time. In his chat session, he invited his fans to ask him anything.

Although Bill Gates is still chairman of Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT), he spends most of his time with is wife Melinda as co-chairman of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. He also shared his 2013 Annual Letter in which he wrote about the details for improving the world.

He also shared a video clip (see below) giving a preview of the chat session. In the video, he answered three key questions, two of which regarded his wealth.

The live chat provided some interesting insight. One of the questions from a user dubbed “Squatly”, who asked Gates his thoughts on the fight against free internet and SOPA. Gates danced around the question by saying it could mean either either a free/pay software mix or anonymous vs. identified tension set. Users noted that this answer was too vague.

Another user dubbed “Falter” asked him about which things brought him most joy. Gates replied with, “Kids. Cheap cheeseburgers. Open Course Ware courses…”

One user named “Salacious” asked Gates if there was a product or program that never made it to development that he wished were on the market. Bill Gates responded by mentioning his company’s rich database cloud/client store that was initially part of a future Windows release.

The whole chat provided interesting facts and tidbits about one of the richest men in the world although there was no groundbreaking information. Rather than sharing insider info or details regarding his tech company, it was more of a conversational chat session. Perhaps he’s trying to learn more about what Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) fans want so he can learn more about what their customers want to create a better product.
