Apple’s Low Cost iPhone To Have Plastic Body, 4-inch Screen

Another day and yet another iOS device related rumor is here. This time, we’ve got a fresh report from iLounge, related to Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s budget iPhone.

Jeremy Horwitz, citing their reliable sources says that Apple’s low-cost iPhone will borrow some design elements from the latest iPod touch, and even the company’s iPod classic.

Apple's Low Cost iPhone To Have Plastic Body, 4-inch Screen

The budget iPhone’s dimensions are “just barely” larger than the iPhone 5’s. It would be only a half-millimeter taller and a half-millimeter wider, which will make it almost a millimeter thicker. What’s now also known is that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is going to use plastic chassis, instead of glass.

From the front, the new iPhone is expected to look almost identical to the iPhone 5 with the exact same shape, camera, sensor and button arrangement. There’s a high possibility that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will continue using the Gorilla Glass for the display.sdf

But the differences are clearly seen when the iPhone is viewed from the side.

The circular volume buttons of the iPhone 4, 4S, and 5 will shift to elongated, pill-shaped designs closer to the iPod touch and iPhone 3G/3GS.

The curves on the new iPhone will start and end at flat surfaces, just like the iPod classic, rather than the curved back featured on the iPhone 3G/3GS.

The right side of the phone will have a flat, centered SIM card tray just like the iPhone 5’s. On the back are a camera, microphone, and rear flash just like the fifth-generation iPod touch. The bottom part consists of headphone port, lightning port, microphone, and speaker.

The budget iPhone will look a lot like an iPhone 5 from the front, an iPod classic from the side, and an iPod touch 5G on the bottom—only made from plastic rather than glass or metal.

There should not be any high expectations kept with this device, as it’s an inexpensive device. Most of the talk was related to the body, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed to learn about what lies under the hood – the technical specs of this phone. We’ll surely see a rumor/report focusing more light on the technical details of the low-cost iPhone, soon.
