Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is apparently testing the iPhone 6 and iOS 7, according to app developers. TheNextWeb reports that app developers have found evidence of these tests in their usage logs.

Apple Inc. (AAPL) Tests iPhone 6, iOS 7 [REPORT]

The usage logs track all the different types of devices using a particular app, including the operating system used by the device and other information like the device’s IP address. The logs reportedly show an IP address inside Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s headquarters in Cupertino. They also show a device identified as iPhone6,1, which is powered by iOS 7. The latest iPhone is identified in app developer logs as iPhone5,1 or iPhone5,2, with the difference being which LTE model it is and which 4G bands it uses.

The appearance of the new device and operating system means that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is checking whether they work with some of the most popular apps that are available. But what it doesn’t mean is that Apple is about to release the new iPhone or iOS. We actually don’t expect either of them to be released until the middle of this year.

Of course it is always possible that these logs can be faked, however the IP address that places the usage inside Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s headquarters certainly makes it more legit. The logs do not indicate anything specific about the features of the hardware or the software, but we may find out soon what those updated features will be.

Traditionally the developer seeds of Apple’s next operating system were revealed at the WWDC event, although in May 9to5mac found developer references to iOS 6 about a month before WWDC 2012.
