Apple Inc. (AAPL) Gadgets Never On Kids Wish List: Bill Gates

Published on

In an interview at the World Economic forum in Davos Switzerland, Bill Gates stated that his kids never asked for Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) products, and are quite happy with their Windows phones and computers. The statement directly contradicts one made by his wife last December.

Just a month ago, Melinda Gates said that though her children asked for Apple products, she would not allow them get any. The couple have one son and two daughters. Gates’ denial of any desire for Apple products on the part of his children during his Davos interview certainly goes against that statement.

Bill Gates may not be willing to admit that his kids want Apple products, but Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has to admit that desire in their employees. In mid 2012, the company announced a new policy under which its employees would no longer be allowed to purchase Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) products through the firm.

The decision makes sense for Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT). Although Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) isn’t much of a competitor in the PC market, it is the biggest player in the smart phone and tablet markets that Microsoft so desperately wants to get in on.

Despite, the comments from his wife, Bill Gates holds that there was no need to institute a ban like that on his own children. They have never wanted an Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s product, and have been perfectly happy with their Windows products. Like most young people, they were probably happy to wait two years for Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) to release a usable table.
