Hedge Fund Shorts In Ireland, Hungary, France, Denmark & Netherlands

Hedge fund (and asset manager) short positions disclosures from Ireland and Hungary are reported here for the first time. In Ireland, Farallon Capital has a 1.18 percent position in the outstanding shares of ICON plc (NASDAQ:ICLR), while FVP Master Fund has a negative bet on 0.52 percent of Independent News And Media Public Ltd Co (LON:INM).

In Hungary, OTP Bank Nyrt (FRA:OTP) is shorted by Lansdowne Partners, Linden Advisors and Morton Holdings. Linden Advisors also has a position in an oil and gas company, MOL Magyar Olaj- es Gazipari Nyrt. (PINK:MGYOY).

In France, since our last update, Cheyne Capital Management has increased their short stake in PagesJaunes Groupe SA (EPA:PAJ) from 0.8 percent to 1.4 percent. Brookside Capital Management disclosed a  1 percent short bet in Gemalto NV (EPA:GTO), while Georgetown Asset Holdings has a 1.58 percent holding  in Gemalto NV (EPA:GTO). The company deals in the production of microprocessor based devices.

We have previously reported that Marshall Wace has a short bet in Peugeot SA (EPA:UG) (PINK:PEUGY), in our most recent updates, D.E. Shaw Co has also disclosed a short position in 1 percent of Peugeot SA (EPA:UG) (PINK:PEUGY).

BlackRock Investment Management has a negative position in 1.27 percent of Soitec SA (EPA:SOI). The French company makes parts for semiconductor devices. B&G Master Fund has a 0.5 percent position in Veolia Environnement Ve SA (EPA:VIE), while CM-CIC Securities has a short holding in 1 percent of Icade SA (EPA:ICAD), a French company that invests in commercial property.

In Denmark, we have mentioned that Greenlight Capital, AQR Capital, and Citadel Europe are shorting FLSmidth & Co. A/S (CPH:FLS), the latest is that D.E Shaw Co and Marshall Wace have chipped in with a 0.6 and 0.53 percent position respectively. Vestas Wind Systems A/S (CPH:VWS) is a frequently shorted stock of many hedge funds, including Sothic Capital, Perella Weinberg Partners, Eton Park, Alden Global, and Blue Ridge Capital. All have either maintained or slightly increased their holding since our last report.

In Netherlands, Bocage Capital has a short position in Aperam SA (AMS:APAM), a stainless steel producer. Highbridge Capital revealed a short bet in 0.5 percent of Akzo Nobel N.V. (PINK:AKZOY) (AMS:AKZA). Some of the largest bets in Netherlands are GLG Partners’ 2.30 percent short position in SNS Reaal NV (AMS:SR), Encompass Capital Advisors’ 1.9 percent position in SBM Offshore N.V. (AMS:SBMO), and AKO Capital’s 1.9 percent short stake in CSM NV (AMS:CSM).
