Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is reportedly testing a television set in secret, but sources claim there is no rush to introduce the rumored TV to the public.

According to a recent report in Focus Taiwan, sources state that the Cupertino-based company has been working with Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (TPE:2317) (key assembler for Apple products known as Foxconn) to test out several different television set models. The source also reports that the actual testing phase. Unfortunately, they don’t expect the TVs to start shipping out  next year. However, it is possible that related Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) television products could make their debut at the International CES expo next month in Las Vegas.

The report from Focus Taiwan stated the following:

Foreign news media have reported recently that Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is working with Hon Hai, the main assembler of the U.S. consumer electronics giant’s iconic iPhones and iPads, to test several designs for its long-talked-about TVs.

Hon Hai, the world’s largest contract electronics maker, has declined to respond to the reports, saying that it never comments on specific business deals with any single client.

The same source added that Apple TV probably won’t feature display panels from Sharp. They explained that they will need flat panels measuring from 46 inches to 55 inches instead.

The report adds:

Hon Hai Chairman Terry Gou’s investment company holds a stake in a liquid-crystal-display factory owned by Sharp, Sakai International Operation, which focuses on producing 60-inch LCD panels.

This current report is still just a rumor. Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd. (TPE:2317) has declined requests to release a public acknowledgement or statement.

Recently, Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL)’s CEO Tim Cook admitted to NBC News that a television set was “an area of intense interest”.
