Facebook, the world’s largest social networking site has just become more social, thanks to its new Social API feature that comes with version 17. This new Social API feature can add Facebook Messenger directly into the sidebar of your browser so that you can keep a check of all your chats, notifications and news feed items. Here’s how you can turn ON this feature from Firefox.

How to Enable Facebook Messenger on Firefox

  1. Firstly, ensure that you are using the latest version of Firefox i.e. 17. Check your version of Firefox from Help > About Firefox.
  2. From your Firefox browser, go to this link: https://www.facebook.com/about/messenger-for-firefox. From this this page, click on “Turn ON” button.

How To Enable or Turn On Facebook Messenger For Firefox

  1. That’s all you need to do. You will see a message that says “You’ve turned on Facebook Messenger for Firefox”. Click on OK.
Now that you have enabled this feature, you will see the sidebar on every website that you visit, which means you can always keep a track of which friends are online on your chat, you can chat with them right no matter where you are on the Web, see updates like new comments, like and photo tags. All this can be done from any website, and there’s no need to visit Facebook.com anymore.

Removing Facebook Messenger from Firefox

To remove/turn off the Facebook Messenger, click on the Facebook icon from the toolbar and then select the “Remove from Firefox”.

Doing this will instantly remove the Facebook Messenger from your browser.
