Google Bids Goodbye to Old Version of Analytics

Google Inc (NASDAQ:GOOG) has announced that it is letting go of the old version of Google Analytics (GA). Google has been giving the option to switch between the old and new version for over a year now, and it has finally decided to retire the previous build. The new look of GA was released around April of last year. The most useful features of GA have been, its integration with AdWords which gives you results on landing page quality and increase in sales, lead generation, number of downloads etc.

The most noteworthy features of the latest version are:

  • The changes to traffic with new campaigns, ads, or live events can be monitored in real-time that shows live changes.
  • GA integrates social-networking with advertising, and gives a detailed analysis of how social marketing initiatives are affecting your business.
  • New version of GA has Multi-Channel Funnels that orchestrate the entire map of conversions to your website that take place over a month. By this method, you can track how visitors find your websites from the beginning, and not just by the last click. This helps users of Google Analytics to make smart marketing decisions, and directs their investments to the right place.
  • The tool also analyzes the interaction of mobile users and mobile Adwords with your website. The new version of GA also allows you to experiment with targeted content for users, you can show different versions to different users, and then GA calculates which style of website was more effective.

GA is a free-of-charge service that calculates detailed statistics related to the visitors on the website. The program has the ability to track visitors from all sources, i.e. referrers, search engines, adverts, links from emails or PDFs etc. Users can add up to 50 websites or profiles per one account. Not surprisingly, Google Analytics is the most widely used web traffic analysis tool. Google Analytics has about 82 percent market share, and is used by more than 55 percent of the top 10,000 websites.

GA helps enterprises find out what kind of ad campaign is benefiting the business more. For websites that sell products or services, GA can be used to report and track sales activity and performance with complete information of website’s transactions, revenue, and other metrics. In September 2011, Google unveiled a premium version of Google Analytics which could handle more data, was equipped with advanced tools, and guarantees provided dedicated customer support. The premium version was made available with a fixed annual fee, and has evolved through its pilot phase successfully.
